Web software package for identifying and researching biological taxons

The article describes the features of computer system for description, studying and identification of various biological taxa, based on a morphological characters. It highlights problems of translation of information into an electronic format. Described examples of created databases – “Native and introduced conifers taxa of North-West European part of Russia” and “Dendrophilous insects of Central Russia”, as well as some other domestic and foreign electronic databases.
