Vegetation cover of the circumlake plain of Lake Kulunda is characterized by com-plex combinations of steppe, halophyte, forest, shrub and wetland communities. This paper deals with soil and vegetation diversity and structure of the cover. Ecological rows and ecosystem com-plexes connected with relief are described. A generalized scheme of ecological ordination by moisture and soil fertility was build based on ecological scales. Habitat assessment by vegetation was proved by the soil analysis.
