Cryolithogenesis in Arctic shelf (recent and relict)

The problem of age heterogeneity of the cryolithozone of Arctic shelf has been considered. It is shown that there are relict and contemporary submarine permafrost in Arctic shelf. Mechanism of syngenetic freezing of bottom deposits and ice rich permafrost formation are under discussion. Relict Pleistocene marine planes are considered as an analogue of contemporary shelf. We can see markings of submarine relict processes in geological sections. Several criteria for age gradation of modern shelf have been suggested on the basis of massive ground ice investigation in marine planes.
